Project Life : Week 08

Yep, another Project Life post this week. But now I'm caught up on the blog again. First, I have a little shop news. The 20 Questions albums are now sold out, but I'd like to spread a little Leap Day love. From now through Thursday, March 1st at noon EST (extended to 9pm EST), I'm offering 29% off in my shop. I still have some mixed paper minibooks left + unlimited quantities of the 20 Questions PDF. Use the coupon code 29LEAP. Offer has expired, thank you!

Week 08 : February 20-26

Photos : M+P getting Mardi Gras beads at the grocery store, a visit with the Treibers, Parker watching the snow fall + hanging out with his cousins, Morgan/Foofa playing photographer + spelling her name, a special breakfast treat with Daddy and some after-breakfast coloring. Lots of pictures of the kids this week.

Other Bits : an email from my mom (inside a folded 4x6 journaling card), packaging from a tea bag + a (the cutest!) drawing Morgan made of Mark.

Insert : 6x12 layouts of the time I spent with my sister, nephews + mom this week.

I forgot to take a picture of it, but the tag behind the photo of the kids from Fat Tuesday (labeled Beads) has some journaling on it. Copied + pasted from this blog post. More detailed shots :

For the inserts, I used Ali Edwards Words and Photos 6x12 Layered Templates. I love these for adding longer stories - which is exactly what I was hoping to incorporate in my Project Life album. The front side was pictures and text from this blog post last week - when my sister and nephews visited. Love how easy it is to just copy + paste what I already wrote on the blog. These layouts really should be borderless but I made the mistake of cutting my photo paper down to 6x12 and then printing. Next time I will print and trim and it should work out better. Lesson learned.
And on the back I used a different template to write about my weekend with my mom and sister. We spent the entire weekend scrapbooking! Well, and lots of talking and laughing too. Despite dealing with a dead car battery, we had a blast!
Last weekend, after I got caught up on my Project Life layouts, I made some little tags for the spines of my We R Memory Keepers albums using a custom flair button from Ormolu and some Lily Bee alphabet stickers. I already know I'm going to have 2 albums for Project Life this year, so I have a Volume 01 + Volume 02 :
I'm not going to add them to the albums until they are complete + sitting on a shelf though. The album I am working on is always open, so since the button does stick out a bit past the front of the metal label holder, I'll slip this tag in when the album is full.

I used a fair amount of old product this week and couldn't find links to most of it. If you have a question about what something is, please feel free to ask in the comments below.

I have also linked up my Week 8 layout to Kristina's Project Life Tuesday (or Wednesday?) :)

Project Life : Week 07

Week 07 : February 13-19

Photos : Parker getting a haircut, Morgan camping out in her tent, Valentine's kisses, cookies and flowers, me and my lunchtime companions, our niece Brynn with Mark at her 1st Birthday Party, enjoying my favorite wine with my mother-in-law and a really cool piece of furniture she added to her home.

Other Bits : not much this week - just the wrapper from the sucker that kept Parker occupied during the always dreaded haircut and Mark's antibiotic box.

Insert : Valentines that Morgan + Parker made at our library's storytime (actually, the previous week) + some Valentines I made for Morgan to paint.

A couple weeks ago I made some journaling cards on the Silhouette so I could do a theme for this week - Valentine's week. It is simply a 3"x3" (-ish) box with the words 'i love' welded to the top. The font is Pacifico. Then I splattered some red watercolor randomly on top of the cards. Very easy and fun!

Instead of the date cards that come in the core kit, I used part of the toilet paper roll heart craft that Morgan made the week before. It seemed to go better with my theme.

On the 'i love' cards, I added a mix of square photos from the week and journaling. All week I was writing down things I loved about those 7 days. Things about me, about Mark and the kids. Big and small. I alternated thick and thin pens to distinguish between the items on my list. I decided to slip a piece of black cardstock behind each card to unify them + block out any distracting patterns that may have been behind them from the previous or next week.

Loved adding the wrapper from Parker's sucker. I covered the chipboard star with patterned paper from my stash and stuck in on with a glue dot :
This is hands down my favorite photo this week. Totally unprompted, I got a picture of Mark giving Morgan a kiss on the cheek while she ate the Valentine cookie he got her. I love that he thought about her and even got her her own bouquet of pink gerber daisies for Valentine's Day. :)
The first aid symbol rub-on is old Basic Grey. I added it to a blank white tag and wrapped Mark's prescription box with it and some baker's twine :

We went to Lansing this weekend for a couple of birthday parties. One for our niece, Brynn, and one for our friends son, Tanner. When we got to Mark's mom's house, she showed the kids this small dresser she had redone. Each of her grandchildren gets one drawer that she'll put little goodies in for every time they visit. I used kraft arrows to name each of the kids. She stenciled on the drawer fronts - "Over the river and through the woods..." (to grandmother's house we go.) Cute, huh?
A little banner with old American Crafts plastic flowers on the photo of Mark and Brynn. The glitter B is Making Memories.
All I did for an insert this week was to slip in the Valentines that Morgan and Parker made at the library the week before. Morgan and I also did a Valentine card craft that I tied together and added to the page protector. Very simple this week.

I took zero pictures at the second birthday party! Eck. I guess we were all having too much fun! Our hostess, my friend Andrea, was kind enough to share the photos her and her husband took that day, so I plan to add another insert (Design G) with the invitation, photos + a little journaling. At least it's something I can add later. The insert is complete - you can see it here.
