Project Life : Week 07

Week 07 : February 13-19

Photos : Parker getting a haircut, Morgan camping out in her tent, Valentine's kisses, cookies and flowers, me and my lunchtime companions, our niece Brynn with Mark at her 1st Birthday Party, enjoying my favorite wine with my mother-in-law and a really cool piece of furniture she added to her home.

Other Bits : not much this week - just the wrapper from the sucker that kept Parker occupied during the always dreaded haircut and Mark's antibiotic box.

Insert : Valentines that Morgan + Parker made at our library's storytime (actually, the previous week) + some Valentines I made for Morgan to paint.

A couple weeks ago I made some journaling cards on the Silhouette so I could do a theme for this week - Valentine's week. It is simply a 3"x3" (-ish) box with the words 'i love' welded to the top. The font is Pacifico. Then I splattered some red watercolor randomly on top of the cards. Very easy and fun!

Instead of the date cards that come in the core kit, I used part of the toilet paper roll heart craft that Morgan made the week before. It seemed to go better with my theme.

On the 'i love' cards, I added a mix of square photos from the week and journaling. All week I was writing down things I loved about those 7 days. Things about me, about Mark and the kids. Big and small. I alternated thick and thin pens to distinguish between the items on my list. I decided to slip a piece of black cardstock behind each card to unify them + block out any distracting patterns that may have been behind them from the previous or next week.

Loved adding the wrapper from Parker's sucker. I covered the chipboard star with patterned paper from my stash and stuck in on with a glue dot :
This is hands down my favorite photo this week. Totally unprompted, I got a picture of Mark giving Morgan a kiss on the cheek while she ate the Valentine cookie he got her. I love that he thought about her and even got her her own bouquet of pink gerber daisies for Valentine's Day. :)
The first aid symbol rub-on is old Basic Grey. I added it to a blank white tag and wrapped Mark's prescription box with it and some baker's twine :

We went to Lansing this weekend for a couple of birthday parties. One for our niece, Brynn, and one for our friends son, Tanner. When we got to Mark's mom's house, she showed the kids this small dresser she had redone. Each of her grandchildren gets one drawer that she'll put little goodies in for every time they visit. I used kraft arrows to name each of the kids. She stenciled on the drawer fronts - "Over the river and through the woods..." (to grandmother's house we go.) Cute, huh?
A little banner with old American Crafts plastic flowers on the photo of Mark and Brynn. The glitter B is Making Memories.
All I did for an insert this week was to slip in the Valentines that Morgan and Parker made at the library the week before. Morgan and I also did a Valentine card craft that I tied together and added to the page protector. Very simple this week.

Back of insert :
I took zero pictures at the second birthday party! Eck. I guess we were all having too much fun! Our hostess, my friend Andrea, was kind enough to share the photos her and her husband took that day, so I plan to add another insert (Design G) with the invitation, photos + a little journaling. At least it's something I can add later. The insert is complete - you can see it here.

  4. I love the repetitive use of the I LOVE cards. I like how you broke it up a bit by using a photo on one of them on each layout. It works really well.
I also like how you used baker's twine and first aid symbol to wrap around the prescription box. Great detail.
