Friday, January 30, 2009 gone!

Boy! A sick week makes for a long week. Poor little Morgan came down with a fierce fever at school on Tuesday afternoon and after a reassuring visit with the doctor, I spent the rest of the week here at home with Morgan.Resting, eating as much as she would take, and lots and lots of snuggling. She is a pretty independent little girl, but when she is sick, Morgan wants nothing more than to be held. In fact, Tuesday night she slept on me. Luckily she slept well. I did not. But, whatever it takes to get her better. As of this afternoon, her fever is gone and she is her bubbly little self again.Yup, she's pulling up on her own now. And sitting back down. Up and down.

On Monday I got a sweet surprise. We were getting ready for the day and she kept saying ma-ma ma-ma ma-ma-ma. Woohoo! She likes me. She really likes me! But, I can't leave out my better half. Morgan was saying da-da last weekend. :) Oddly enough, she still seems to prefer talking about this Bob guy, followed by high pitched squealing.

That's it for now. Have a great weekend all!

It only took 2 hours...

...but we got a very necessary to-do done this afternoon. We took Morgan to get her passport! Apparently about 20 other people had the same idea because we were in line for a long time. But Morgan was SOOOO good. If this is any indication of what she is going to be like on the plane to Mexico, then I can't wait! She was much more patient than most of us. I don't think those workers could have possibly moved any slower.

So, needless to say, she was pooped by the time we got home.
Now, it's dinner time. Tonight we are trying avocado. Guacamole anyone?

Morgan had them Old Navy jeans, jeans, Keen boots with the fur, with the fur

Another great weekend. We spent it spending money like it was our job though. Morgan got her new convertible car seat and Mark and I got some new goodies from Patagonia. It was one of those things where I would have had the opposite of buyers remorse from having NOT taken advantage of a great sale.

Other than a run out to Babies R Us, we got to stay home and stay warm. The visitors came to us! We got to see Gramm and Papa on Saturday, and Aunty K on Sunday. They got to see for themselves what Morgan is getting into...which is pretty much everything. She loves wires, cords and shoelaces. This morning while checking on her during her morning nap, I found her playing with the cord to her baby monitor. Yup, that got promptly packed away!

Saturday morning we were also greeted with the arrival of tooth #2, which happens to be #1's next door neighbor. That one seemed to come in without too much of a fuss...phew!Now it's time to get serious about going to bed. Something knocked me on my butt this afternoon...feels like allergies...but can you really get allergies when it's 15 degrees outside? So, I'm outta here, before my head explodes. G'night!

If you still care...

...I will catch you up on the goings-on around here from the last couple weeks.

Christmas was great! We spent Christmas Eve at home and it was a long and tearful night for little Morgan. Her gums were really sore and she didn't sleep well so when she was ready for her early morning bottle, we stayed up and opened gifts. It was Christmas day, after all.By 7:15 we were all napping again. We went to Lansing in the afternoon for celebrations with Mark's dad and family. We spent the day with my parents and Kristin and Troy on Friday. We had a big breakfast, opened gifts, visited and watched Tropic Thunder. Hilarious! Our Secret Santa's stayed secret for the most part...until it was time to open the gifts. We'll know better next year, right?! ;)Mark's long-time friend and college roommate James passed away on December 23rd after complications from muscular dystrophy. His memorial service was Saturday, so we were back in Lansing for that. It was very sad, and a little unexpected, especially since his parents were getting ready to bring him home from the hospital.

Sunday was one of our infamous lazy days before we hit our to-do list hard and fast on Monday. Last week was filled with car shopping and test driving, unpacking, spending money, laundry and ironing, errands, making deals, watching movies, cleaning and lots of running around. We picked up our new car on Wednesday and took a little road trip to the eastside for shopping at Partridge Creek and dinner at Max+Erma's. Kristin and Troy were having a little New Year's Eve get-together so we stopped by for a bit to visit with them, and Shaun, Val and Derek, before we went home. Mark and I hardly made it to midnight. Ah, how things have changed. :) Happy New Ye...zzz...
New Year's Day was spent with the Owens' - Parks and Nicole invited us over to hang out and watch hockey and football while their son Landon (who will be 2 years old in just 2 weeks!) and Morgan played. We also got to see Dave, Angie and Boden before they left for Florida on Sunday. It's amazing how big our babies are getting. I wish we could've spent more time together. Morgan's temperament was not faring well after all of those late nights. She is more of an 'early to bed, early to rise' kind of gal.

Like I said in the last post, Morgan sprouted her first tooth on the 30th. So, her first tooth beat out her first crawling 'steps', but not by much. She's been scooting and rocking and pushing for weeks but yesterday when I got her home from school, she sat on her playmat, got on her hands and knees, and went! She crawled. It was so so cute. She seems much too little to be crawling, but she is! We were pretty excited, and scared. Oh the things she can get into now. This morning before work she decided she didn't like how my scrapbooking supplies were organized and crawled over to do a little rearranging. NO! Not the scrapbooking stuff!

Morgan is making tons of noise and talking a lot. Mostly, ba-ba-ba, bob-bob-bob (who's Bob?), and an occasional da-da and ga-ga. No ma-ma. Bummer :( She is also starting to hold her arms out when she wants to be picked up. Who could deny that request?

Her current likes: climbing over us when we sit on the floor to play with her, standing up, blowing raspberries, pulling her new playmat apart and eating the foam pieces, chucking her sippy cup on the floor when we are eating, snow and dogs!

Dislikes: getting dressed, being put in her carseat, having something she shouldn't have taken away, our slippery wood floor.

OK. Good enough. I think I'm caught up again, for now. We don't have any big plans this weekend. Just lots of playing and enjoying each other's company. Sounds like we are going to get a bunch of snow again...sigh. I think I see a new car seat in our future too. We should probably start shopping for that. Have a great Friday and a nice weekend.

7 @ 7

Morgan is 7 months old today. Could time be going by any faster?

All is well here but this post will be short. I will be back with a holiday recap, hopefully sooner than later. You're lucky that Mark has your back since he has been bugging me (in the nicest possible way) to update the blog. All I can say is I'm working on it. It's been a busy couple weeks and we are getting back into our routine now. Back to work and back to reality.

Here are 7 little tidbits to hold you over until the big post:

1. Morgan's first tooth poked through on December 30. Looks like she is working on #2 and #3 - the bottom right and top left.

2. After lots of researching, reading reviews, test driving 7 vehicles and making a pros/cons list (seriously!), we decided on the Subaru Forester XT. The XT stands for fast as all get out. Well, we will test that out in about 700 miles.

3. Christmas was great. Lots of running around and lots of goodies for all of us.
I love Christmas and it was especially sweet this year now that we are parents.

4. Our time off was awesome. A good mix of getting stuff done and getting nothing done. We ran lots of errands, did about 100 loads of laundry, watched a couple movies (and tried to watch a couple more), went shopping, went out for breakfast a lot and visited friends.

5. Going back to work this morning was tough, but Morgan seemed pretty happy. It was slow at school the last couple weeks but the room was packed when we arrived. All the babes were ready and rearing to PLAY!

6. Morgan is getting closer and closer to zipping across the room. Somehow, she can also sit up on her own! She woke up one morning last week quite upset. When I got up to check on her, she was sitting up in her crib - yikes! Reminder to Mark: time to lower the crib mattress.

7. Food experimenting is going well. We can add apples and pears to her list of yummy foods. I even broke off a hunk of banana for her last week. She was grabbing at one I was eating so I gave her a piece. She didn't seem to care for it, but did enjoy squishing it in her hands. Of course.

I'll be back...
