fun mail
After a long and emotional day, I was greeted by the arrival of some fun mail this evening. Last week I bought this little piece of art for Morgan. Someday, heaven help me, she will have her own bedroom that I can hang this in.
The artist is Kal Barteski and I got hooked on her blog about 10 months ago after my mom told me about her. It's just 5" x 9" (a part of her tiny art series) - I thought this piece was sweet and I really love the message. You can read about her inspiration for it here.

fashionable, and delicious!
Then daddy thought he'd test carrying Morgan on his shoulders (something he is really looking forward too).
We don't have much on our plate this weekend. Nothing planned, so it will likely be a lazy one. Especially since I am sick. I've been feeling pretty cruddy the past two weeks, but this past week my sore throat was getting worse. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and while my rapid strep test came back negative, my doctor said there was a 1 in 4 chance it was wrong. Which is likely because my blood work showed high levels of bacteria. Mmm...gotta love a bacterial infection to start off the fall season. So, I'm taking my antibiotics, trying to lay low, and hoping my fever from last night doesn't return.
Before I sign off, I'd like to send my love to the Reaves family. Mark's grandmother, Barbara, passed away Friday evening. She was a wonderful, kind woman who will be greatly missed.

Happy Fall!
So long, summer! It doesn't quite feel like fall yet, but I am totally ready for it. I love crispy cool mornings - I'm looking forward to spending a few of them at the Farmington Farmers Market and Parmenters Cider Mill in Northville.
Our little family had a great weekend! Saturday we lounged around a bit before heading out for a little shopping. Mark and I are achin' to do some fall clothes shopping but every time we try, we find zip for us and all kinds of cute goodies for Morgan. This time she came home with a grey knit hat with matching mittens and some long sleeve onesies from H&M. We got home with just a little time to spare before Grandma and Grandpa Frahm came over to visit and go out for dinner at Cedar. Then it was bath time (which always turns into mopping the kitchen floor because Morgan LOVES to kick and splash) and night-night.
Sunday we spent the day in Lansing for the Oberlin's annual end-of-summer skeet shootin' party. And everyone was there! Finally, all of the babies were together. But don't hate me, because I didn't get a single picture of the three little North Channel babes together. UGH! I do have a bunch of shots of Morgan though.

Morgan got to spend some quality time with Grandma Goulding and play with a few new toys too. She loved this and this. Thank you Boden for sharing your cool toys! :) I hope to get Morgan some of her own during my next trip to Babies 'R Us. And I really want to get her this too. My shopping list is never ending - this is the beginning of the end of having a floor that is free of blocks, stuffed animals, blankets and books! She is SO fun to shop for though, and totally worth the clutter.
We're out for now - the alarm clock will be going off before we know it. Nighty-night!

big fat positive
No, I'm not pregnant again.
But, one year ago today I took this fateful test. A test that turned out to be positive! It was 4am on a Saturday morning and I was feeling...different. I just had an urge to try. Maybe, just maybe, this test would have a better outcome than the previous month. And it did. Of course, not only could I not fall back asleep, I couldn't bear to wake Mark up either. Instead, when I finally decided to get up for the day, I put the test by the television remote. I thought he was bound to see it there. And after getting his morning cereal, he headed right for the couch to watch a little TV. Mark was thrilled! We were giddy with excitement - and it was SO hard not to tell everyone right away. :)
Now, a whole year has passed and our little zygote will be 16 weeks old in a few days. My, how time flies.
I'll post again soon with some photos from last weekend. Happy Monday!

Art 101
When I picked Morgan up from 'school' on Wednesday evening, I noticed this fine piece of art hanging on the wall.
It's Morgan's first little art project! They used food-based mediums, like pudding and food coloring, not paint, and with the help of their teachers, they colored a little traffic light with their hands. Ah, if only she knew she had pudding on her hands...yum! I thought that was pretty stinkin' cute and can't wait to put it in her scrapbook. I like to think her daycare is more like school. A few weeks ago they had their pictures taken (ha ha!) as well as a class photo. We are still waiting to see how they turned out.
And this morning, it was just Morgan and the girls with Ms. Cassie.
The little girl in the blue Bumbo chair is Lola, Morgan's BFF. Lola is a pretty hip chick and her mommy likes to dress her in cool clothes. I chuckled to myself a few weeks ago when I saw Lola wearing a Johnny Cash t. How funny is that?

chompin' at the bit
And, another BIG deal around here (at least to me) is that Morgan laughed for me yesterday. Like a serious HA HA laugh. It was really cute! And it's a big deal because she started laughing for Mark a couple weeks ago. Now I can get her to do it too. Yippee!

another nap...another post
Mark has gotten several little giggles out of Morgan, usually when he blows raspberries on her neck. She gives us some crazy big smiles and occasionally, a little 'ha ha' laugh. It's totally adorable.
She is also practicing rolling over from her back to her belly. Most times she gets 'stuck' laying on her arm, as I'm sure she doesn't quite know how to pull her arm out of the way yet. Then she just rolls back on her side and hangs out there for a bit. It's so fun to watch her move around, kicking her legs and waving her arms.
Speaking of which, Morgan is working on grasping and reaching for objects now too. She likes to grab her toes, pull on her burp cloth, her clothes, even mommy's hair, and put it in her mouth.
That's about all for us now. And it's time to eat. We'll be back soon!
