stimulate this
Mark forgot his softball bat for his game after work today, so I met him for lunch to give it to him. Little did I know after scarfing down our pizza, we'd end up going camera shopping. We've been back and forth trying to decide if we should get a digital SLR for several months and today, we just did it. We bit the bullet and purchased a Nikon D60. So there...we've supported a local business and stimulated the economy (and Japan's!).
Today's prenatal appointment didn't go as well as I had hoped. After experiencing a great deal of painful cramping yesterday, I was hoping to have progressed a lot further than another 1/2 centimeter since last week! Bah! Dr. thinks I will likely not deliver baby wait-and-see until our due date, if not later. Double bah! Our next appointment is Wednesday (40 weeks, 1 day). We are scheduled to get an ultrasound to check baby's amniotic fluid (make sure there's enough and maybe check to make sure this little monster isn't like 10 pounds or something) and a non-stress test to measure my contractions and baby's heartrate.
So that's the story as of now. I'm off to send our little one some labor vibes and try to get the nerve to just think about picking up this camera.

a sneak peek
My plan today is hopefully a productive one, if I can stay out of bed. I have cleaning to do, errands to run (groceries...fun!) and laundry to iron. And walking, of course. Tonight we'll be glued in front of the tv watching the Red Wings game and tomorrow, my weekly appointment. Send some good vibes that we are making progress!

impatiently waiting, with painted toes
Kristin and I spent the day walking, shopping, walking, eating, walking and shopping some more for our annual birthday shopping trip. I think we've been taking each other shopping for the other's birthday since I could drive...so, what, 14 years, give or take? Had a great time - lots of catching up and baby talk. At this rate, I think Aunty K might just get her way and her niece or nephew is going to be born on her 28th birthday!
After all that walking, I had a little pampering of my own - a mom to be pedicure. Wow, did that feel nice. Even if the swelling, veins and bloat popped back up about an hour later. Hmpf! Screw you, water retention! Nonetheless, my toes are cute and painted a nice shade of dark pink.
And last but not least. As I write this at 10:49pm, Mark is assembling the crib in our bedroom. I haven't heard any swearing in at least 10 minutes. So, be good. Maybe I will have something to share tomorrow. As for me, I'm much too excited to sleep. I'm going to go find something to clean. G'night!

38 Weeks 4 Days
...and it's my last day of work! It hasn't quite hit me yet. Kind of just feels like I'm going on vacation. Man am I going to miss those girls. (You better keep in touch!)
It's the beginning of Memorial weekend and I think it's going to be a busy one - mostly for Mark. He is thisclose to finishing the crib. Tonight he's doing a light sanding and applying the third and final coat of polyurethane. Saturday and Sunday he has grand (yet attainable) plans to rout out the Corian sides (yes, Corian!) and build the platform that the mattress sits on.
As for me, I'll be hanging out with my mom. Maybe get some scrapbooking done? That would be fabulous. I'm hoping we can grant baby wait-and-see permission to begin it's descent after this weekend. I am SO ready to see him or her.
